Well this one at least goes home and paints her petrol tank. Yup that's what I said. I spent a very enjoyable if tiring day teaching machine quilting to a fun bunch of ladies then drove home to find my car had been making progress without me. Apparently very expensive silicone racing hoses fit and cure my water leak. So now all she need to be properly roadworthy is a petrol tank without a leak. I say properly as she is now fine provided she has less than half a tank of fuel. So I've been putting the last of the primer and the first of the topcoat onto the new old tank. It's looking pretty smart now, and it should be more durable. I wish I had taken some before pictures to share.
The really great thing is I feel much happier for having had a balanced day, to say nothing of getting my car back to drivable condition. Now I guess time for some more quilting.

New member of the family
You may remember some I told you of the demise of KDU, my Ford Capri. I've been looking for a replacement ever since. We quickly discovered that they are now a lot more rare and expensive than the last time we bought one. On the other hand the good ones are better than any I have seen before, but somehow they weren't quite right for me. Last Sunday we went and saw another one. It was nice, very tidy, a few little niggles but very plain. It didn't grab me. So much so I didn't test drive it, I just listened to the back end, which is fine. Then we had a very long discussion about whether we should buy it. I knew it made sense, it's a great car for the money, but I wasn't enthusiastic, I wanted to go and see another one. Oddly Tet decided to make an offer and after a little haggling they reached and agreement. OK so I had a new car, but still it wasn't lighting my fire, still I drove it to pick up the deposit. Wow! What a difference a test drive makes, she is a doll of a car. Having picked her up on Wednesday I have already done about 250 miles and I love her. She is a 2.8 V6, silver blue and very shiny. I walk up to her in car parks and am surprised that such a shiny car might be mine. The only thing is I have no idea what her name is. I hope she tells me soon. Pictures will follow soon, but I will need to give her a wash first.

Meet the family, our Capris
Some time ago I posted about my car, a Ford Capri we refer to as KDU. She recently was declared beyond repair, which I am very sad about. Several suggested I should take some more pictures before I lost her entirely. Finally this Sunday I had time to. I haven't had a chance to work on many pictures yet, and I thought it would be nice to introduce you to the rest of the Capri side of the family. At least most of it, Atew is in the garage waiting for more time to work on restoring her.

So in the front we have Cally and Trogdor. Cally is the grey, and has been with us about 10 years. I think we have done over 100,000 miles in this car. Trogdor the black car is our newest arrival. It had a V8 and will hopefully turn out to be a good drag racing car.
Behind Trogdor, is Kdu, the blue car. She is my darling but after many years service will soon be leaving. Obviously we will make use of every part we can. Next there is the Great white, what colour do you think that one is. This is our first 2.8i and came to us as a rescue car. She was having a very bad time where she was, the locals were beating her up. This is currently the car I drive most. I rather like the 2.8i, but I am not sure about the extras when it comes to maintaining the car.
Finally we have Brute. It was an emergency purchase just after moving house. A weird car, with an external linkage gearbox. It was clunky but I loved it. Shame it was only a four speed box, Capris really do need a five speed box. Brute is waiting at the moment. We aren't sure what is the best route for him.
So there you have it, the Capri family. I will post some pictures of Kdu once I have had a chance to sort through them.
